Domaine G. Saumaize is a family-run estate in the Mâconnais of southern Burgundy, at the foot of the Roche de Solutré. Now led by Guillaume Saumaize, it farms parcels in Prissé, Solutré, Vergisson and Davayé, with Chardonnay at its core and a small amount of Gamay. Vineyard work emphasizes soil preservation and minimal intervention, combining reasoned viticulture with biodynamic practices, organic inputs and manual harvesting. The domaine’s clay-limestone soils and proximity to the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson contribute a distinctive mineral character. Guillaume is supported by partners Gilles Charlot and Michel Gayot, while the estate continues a family winemaking tradition associated with Roger Saumaize and earlier generations.
