Bodegas Trenza is a family-run boutique winery in Yecla, Murcia, owned and operated by Danish brothers David and Jonas Tofterup. Founded in 2004, it focuses on handcrafted Monastrell wines and creative blends that “braid” the brothers’ complementary winemaking experience. David is the founder and winemaker, while Jonas is the first Danish Master of Wine. The winery works with carefully selected, high-altitude vineyards, particularly old, dry-farmed bush vines in Yecla’s Campo Arriba, where poor limestone and stony soils, intense sunshine, and cool nights encourage concentrated, naturally balanced fruit. More than 90% of the grapes are organic and dry-farmed, and sustainability is a core value. Harvesting and processing are hands-on, with grapes picked and sorted by hand for whole-berry fermentation.
