Ara is a Marlborough wine producer wholly owned by the Todd Corporation, operating a large estate of approximately 1,600 hectares with 600 hectares under vine. Founded in 1999, the winery is fully certified sustainable through Sustainable Winegrowing NZ. It composts 100% of winery waste, converting 4,000 m³ into 8,000 m³ of compost applied to vineyards, and recycles all production runoff via an on-site water-treatment system. Since 2023, all wines are vegan-friendly, certified by the UK Vegetarian Society. The philosophy focuses on letting pure Marlborough fruit shine, expressing vintage variation and the region's cool, rugged terroir from diverse vineyard sites across the Wairau Valley.
