Adega a Barouta is a small Alentejo project founded in 2020 by Javier Alen, Daniel Landi and Fernando García, with Roberto Núñez joining as vineyard manager and cellar master in 2022. The estate works old vines averaging 60 years of age on granite soils at 170–230 metres, using sustainable farming practices. Winemaking is hands-off, with indigenous yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation, and no fining, filtration or pump-overs. The team’s 2023 Ventoleiro Tinto release illustrates the project’s limited scale and artisanal focus.
