Tarrica Wine Cellars is a small, family-owned winery in Paso Robles, California, founded by Sam and Valerie Balakian, with the first grapes crushed in 2000 and the first bottled wine released in 2003. Sam, President and Winemaster, manages the winery with Valerie; the name Tarrica comes from their daughters, Taryn and Erica. The winery farms and sources grapes primarily in Paso Robles, with Pinot Noir from Monterey, and focuses on value-priced wines that express their viticultural origin and varietal character. Its style emphasizes natural grape flavors in balanced, easy-to-enjoy wines. The winery operates its own temperature-controlled facilities, barrel storage, and quality-control laboratory, and welcomes visitors by appointment.
