Rippon is a family-owned estate on the shores of Lake Wānaka in Central Otago, farmed by the Mills family for four generations. Winegrowing began in the 1970s under Rolfe Mills, and the site includes some of the oldest commercial vines in the region. The estate works exclusively from its own single vineyard, planted on schist soils, with biodynamic farming and a strong environmental focus; no formal certifications are noted. Around 80% of the vines are on their own roots. Winemaking centers on estate fruit, indigenous yeast, minimal intervention, and site expression, with Pinot Noir aged 15–18 months in barrel and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Rippon is especially known for its single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, alongside Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and Osteiner.
