Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar is a family-owned, third-generation winery established in 2008 on a farm in Herbertsdale, near Mossel Bay, in South Africa’s Garden Route. Set beside the Langeberg Mountains, its vineyards experience warm, dry summers moderated by the nearby Indian Ocean, with vines planted on clay, shale and sandstone across different slopes. The estate grows 13 cultivars and produces fruit-driven wines in the Jakkalsvlei range, including Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Pinotage. Its limited-quantity Lord Jackal range focuses on quality and taste, with wines including wooded Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cape Vintage Reserve. The winery’s stated aim is to express the complexity, richness and diversity of its distinctive terroir.
