Dr. H. Thanisch is a historic, family-owned estate in Bernkastel-Kues in the Mosel, founded in 1636 and now in its 11th generation. Part-owned and managed by Sofia Thanisch, who also serves as winemaker, the estate works steep, old-vine Riesling vineyards using organic viticulture. Its wines carry Fair’n Green certification, and the winery is a founding VDP member. Olaf Kaufmann is also listed among the winemakers. The estate’s family stewardship and focus on Riesling from steep Mosel slopes define its traditional, quality-oriented style.
