Clos de la Barthassade

France

Clos de la Barthassade is a family-owned estate in the Terrasses du Larzac, run by Hélène and Guillaume Baron, who settled here after training in Burgundy and made their first vintage in 2014. Their vineyards lie across Montpeyroux, Jonquières and Saint-Saturnin on limestone terraces and other varied soils, farmed organically with Ecocert certification, HVE3 sustainable certification, and some work guided by the biodynamic calendar. Manual vineyard work and low yields aim to preserve healthy, balanced fruit and freshness. In the cellar, the Barons follow a low-intervention approach: parcel-by-parcel vinification, native yeasts, gravity flow, gentle extraction, little sulfur, and élevage in a mix of barrels, concrete eggs and other vessels, with bottling unfined and unfiltered.
