Acquired by Véronique Smati in 2007, Château de Lionne is a Graves estate in the south of Bordeaux, with vineyards in Illats and Brouqueyran/Brouquets. The property covers 30 hectares, including 14 hectares under vine and in production. Certified HEV 3, the highest level of High Environmental Value certification, it is not yet organic but is working toward organic certification; newly planted vines are farmed organically from the outset. The estate’s philosophy combines environmental respect, innovation and creativity, with plans to explore non-Bordeaux varieties and revive forgotten grapes. Wines are made traditionally and aged in stainless-steel tanks, aiming for fruity, fresh and finely textured expressions of the gravel, sand, limestone and clay soils. Oenologist Grégory Dalla Lionga is part of the team.
